This will be a period of change as the Tribunal transitions:
- to the new Mental Health and Wellbeing Act recommended by the Royal Commission into Victoria’s Mental Health System, and
- out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The development of this plan provided the Tribunal with an opportunity to elevate our commitment to valuing the lived experience of consumers and carers. It was also an opportunity to recommit the Tribunal to being responsive to individual needs and ensuring fair, consistent and solution-focused hearings.
Our plan recognises the critical role of health services and legal representatives and seeks to promote positive, constructive engagement between these services and the Tribunal in supporting the realisation of the principals and objectives of Victoria’s mental health and wellbeing legislation. We look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with our stakeholders on the implementation of this plan.
