The MTPD Act amended the Mental Health Act 2014, extending the Tribunal’s jurisdiction to hear applications for electroconvulsive treatment (ECT) for voluntary adults who do not have capacity to consent to treatment.

On 12 March 2018 the Medical Treatment Planning and Decisions Act 2016 (MTPD Act) came into effect. The MTPD Act introduced a new framework for advance care planning for all kinds of medical treatment. More information is available on the Health.Vic website.
